Have your say on the Tribunal’s practice directions

The Administrative Review Tribunal is inviting people to provide feedback on the 6 practice directions that have been in force since the Tribunal was established in October 2024.

Under section 36 of the Administrative Review Tribunal Act 2024, the President may make practice directions about a range of matters – including directions on operations and procedures, the conduct of proceedings, arrangement of business, as well as access to and responsiveness of the Tribunal.

These directions complement existing laws, rules and regulations, providing specific and detailed instructions for the Tribunal, applicants and practitioners to follow to ensure smooth and efficient reviews.

With the Tribunal now having been in operation for more than 7 months, the President is seeking feedback on the efficacy of these practice directions.

You can submit your comments on each practice direction using the relevant survey link below:

  1. Common procedures
  2. Migration, protection and character
  3. Child support
  4. Freedom of information
  5. Guidance and Appeals Panel
  6. Expert evidence.

Consultation will be open until close of business on Thursday 26 June 2025.

Responses received will be collated and considered as part of the Tribunal’s ongoing review and assessment of its processes, procedures and performance.
