Administrative Review Tribunal Moot Competition

The Tribunal holds a moot competition every year for students enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree at any Australian university. Our first moot competition took place in 2025.

Competitors have the opportunity to explore administrative law through a series of moots based on realistic scenarios from the Tribunal’s jurisdictional areas.

In the 2025 grand final, competitors presented opposing arguments in a mock hearing of a child support matter before the Tribunal’s Guidance and Appeals Panel.

The competition aims to deepen understanding of tribunal practice and procedure as distinct from the courts, and encourage students to consider a career in administrative law.

It also provides valuable hands-on experience in online advocacy, reflecting the modern approach of tribunals and courts across the country.

Prizes are awarded to the runners-up and winners, whose team name is inscribed on the Tribunal’s official competition shield.

Registration information will be published on this page prior to the 2026 moot competition.
