The Administrative Review Tribunal has updated 6 of its practice directions following feedback from applicants, representatives, advocates and other Tribunal users.
The revised practice directions will replace the current ones from 2 March 2026. To help users prepare for the changes, we have published the updated documents ahead of the date they will come into effect.
We have revised the practice directions to address feedback we received in 2025 when consulting widely with external and internal stakeholders. The changes will ensure the Tribunal’s practice directions work effectively in setting out our operations and processes, and that they are presented in an accessible format.
The following updated directions will not apply to review applications until 2 March 2026:
- Common Procedures Practice Direction
- Migration, Protection and Character Practice Direction
- Child Support Practice Direction
- Freedom of Information Practice Direction
- Guidance and Appeals Panel Practice Direction
- Expert Evidence Practice Direction.
We have not changed the Litigation Supporter Practice Direction as it has only been in effect since June 2025. We will initiate a review of this practice direction in the future.
Until the updated practice directions take effect, the current directions will remain in effect as published on our Practice directions and other guidance page.
