Law students across Australia are invited to take part in the Tribunal’s inaugural moot competition being held from August.
The competition is open to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree at any Australian university.
Competitors will have the opportunity to explore administrative law through a series of moots based on realistic scenarios drawn from the Tribunal’s jurisdictional areas.
Conducted over five rounds, each moot will be adjudicated by members of the Tribunal. Finalists will compete in a grand final in October, judged by a panel including the President or a deputy president.
The competition aims to deepen understanding of tribunal practice and procedure as distinct from the courts, and encourage students to consider a career in administrative law. It also provides valuable hands-on experience in online advocacy, reflecting the modern approach of tribunals and courts across the country.
Prizes will be awarded to the runners-up and winners, whose team name will be inscribed on the competition shield.

Registrations open Monday, 2 June 2025 and close Monday, 7 July 2025.
